Last Theme Day for Becca
So all year long Becca's class has had Theme days were they learn all about a certain subject. This day was science day and they painted faces. Becca thought she looked smarter with glasses. I guess that is true, or maybe cuter. So Becca wouldn't let me wash her face for days. It was a fun day and the kids love them.
Steller's Jay
So we were coming home from the field and we saw this bird in the yard. It was hopping around and not flying so we finally caught it after several attempts and injuries. (Me! I am the one who was injured because someone forgot to put the anvil away) So we found that it had one eye that was damaged and the other birds were picking on it.
Quinn was trying to get Andrew to hold it for the picture. He wasn't really excited about it.
But finally he consented and even smiled for the camera.
Career Day at the School!!!
So after the field trip to the farm I went to the school and presented on being a Dairy Farmer. This is the only picture I got though. Becca and Cohen were my "helpers." They did pretty good and it was super hot in the library at the school. It actually went really well. I think it is really important for the kids to know where their milk comes from and to know us. It makes them less detached from the farm that way. And maybe someday they will remember what I taught them.
Field Trip to the Farm!
So every time I have a child in Kindergarten I have them come out to the farm for a visit. When we were in Spokane this February our cab driver talked about when he was a kindergartener he went to a dairy to visit. He talked all about it. It must have made a profound impact on him to remember it all these years after it happened. So here are the pictures from our day. It went really well and the clouds parted and the sun came out and we had a great time.
The milk truck came late that day!!! Of all days!!! I told the driver that he sure picked a fine time to be late. He is NEVER late. The dogs were really enjoying themselves!! They loved the kids and would not leave them alone. So I had to remove them. We had two kids that are deathly afraid of Dogs!!! It was maybe good for them to be around my extremely friendly dogs.
So if you can't tell I am not the one taking pictures. Bryson Crane wanted to take some pictures for me and this is what we got. I am not sure why I am in the picture.
See here is Mark and Daisy begging for attention. They were out of control!!! We tried to lock them up but that didn't work either!!!

See what I mean!! No pictures of me allowed!!!
This is Houston DeClark's mom and she was helping hand out their snack from the school.
Here the kids are in the Barn.
Quinn let them feel how the milkers work. They were a little leery.
Next he showed them the tank and the milk inside it.
Next we fed the baby calf's
Group Photo time.
Black and White Days in Richmond
So I have been remiss in posting on here. I've been in the tractor and it does inhibit computer time. So we finally got all the seed in the ground last Thursday so that means now is the time for me to get this done. So on May 15, 2013 I took Nolan out of school and took him and Andrew down to a Dairy Judging contest in Richmond. Nolan enjoyed the dairy heifer contest so much that I thought this would be a good activity for him. I mostly thought it would help him pay attention to the world around him and "SEE" things around him. I love him dearly but he sometimes is not the most observant. So he threw a little fit about going because it was finals that day and he was sure that they would flunk him. I assured him that they would not be doing that and that this was more important. So off we went. I thought we were just going to be observing but Uncle Justin threw Nolan into a group and he actually judged. Actually he asked Nolan what he wanted to do so this is what happened. I did not school Nolan on the process of Judging but he managed. I will admit if this had happened to me I would have been crying and throwing a fit. So he is doing better than his shy mother. He also did two reasons classes and I was super surprised that he did that.
So Andrew was being a little pill the whole time but I tried to get a few shots in of Nolan. This is what he did way to much. Leaned against the side lines. But he finally learned that he could walk around to look at the animals. All in all it was a good day and I think he really enjoyed himself because he wants to go to another one this summer.Sunday, May 12, 2013
Spring Time!!
So I said earlier that it's kind of spring around here. I've had to mow the lawn twice now. That is major. I haven't been taking as many pictures because I've been in the tractor and forgotten the camera. But Andrew has been the main tractor rider with me this year. He really does love it. Becca is not as excited about it anymore. The boys would love to be out there but school gets in the way. So maybe I'll take the camera more but we will see. We need to get the crop in the ground soon.
